Energy efficiency and electromobility are future-oriented topics that we already face today. The increasing industrialization of the world leads to an ever-increasing energy demand, while the fossil fuel resources are inevitably declining. A way to overcome this dilemma is to use the existing energy resources as efficiently as possible and increase the share of energy from renewable and low-emission resources. The “Metropolitan region of East Berlin-Brandenburg” presents many promising approaches in this sector.

With the establishment of the field of “energy technology”, there is already a close cross-border cooperation between the states of Berlin and Brandenburg. The city of Berlin also addresses the future-oriented topic of renewable energies and clean technologies. In the north of Marzahn, the CleanTech Business Park is currently being developed and is Berlin’s largest industrial area with its 90 hectares, dedicated to clean and sustainable energies. The CleanTech Innovation Center is located in the immediate vicinity and serves as an innovation center for start-ups in the industry, offers cost-effective work places and workshop facilities and, if necessary, supports them with a mentoring program. In addition, there is the possibility to participate in an exchange program. Partners of the CIC include the American Chamber of Commerce in New York and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
